Project Global Underground

The idea of the Project Global Underground is to present the cultural features of underground transportation systems in 33 countries worldwide. These metro systems possess their own identity; reflecting the technical and cultural levels of the time of their creation, while every passenger is unique to its city, its culture and its time.  Cherkashin’s intention is to convey, through their work, the social dynamics of each urban center through its main artery - the metro. As artists whose works always expresses social commentary, the possibility of creating a network that incorporates a global theme, and links cultures with their similarities, became a catalyst for this project. More that 100 art works had already been created.
